On May 1, Maine Lawyers for the Rule of Law (MLROL) held its second annual Law Day celebration at Lincoln Park in Portland, bringing together members of the legal community and the public to reaffirm their shared commitment to the rule of law.

The event featured remarks from Attorney General Aaron Frey, University of Maine School of Law Dean Leigh Saufley, and former Maine Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Dan Wathen.Attendees reflected on the importance of maintaining a legal system in which no one is above the law and heard readings of the Declaration Supporting the Fundamental Principles of our Legal System, originally signed by more than 600 Maine lawyers and 70 law firms. Participating attorneys were also invited to reaffirm the oath they took upon admission to the Maine bar, underscoring a continued dedication to upholding the Constitution and the principles that support a fair and independent legal system.
